Following that, we have another trailer for Game Freak’s upcoming game, Beast of Reincarnation. This game follows a lone warrior and her dog companion as they try to free the future world from plant monsters, robotic soldiers, and all manner of threats. This game has a lot of work put into it, and I always wanted to see what else Game Freak is capable of when not under a time constraint by Pokémon. This feels like a day one purchase for me. Next up, we have a brand new reveal of a new game, simply titled Project Windless, based on the novels of The Bird that Drinks Tears. Playing as a chicken warrior who wants to save his world from invading forces that are meant to purify the world. We haven’t seen much gameplay of this game from the trailer, but it looks to be a fast-paced beat 'em up game with guns, fists, and all sorts of melee weapons that the source material is known for. This untitled John Wick game is in development now for PS5.
Speaking of high-octane action, we have another trailer for the upcoming Bungie game Marathon. Marathon is a first person extraction game that can be played with your friends or going solo, but its preferred that you have friends to play with in the 18-person PVP mode. It looks incredibly fun and reminds me of the older marathon games and Destiny before that hit the fan. Marathon is out now on all major systems.
Next up, we have another look at the upcoming action game by Playstation Studios: Saros. Saros has been a long time coming because this is a game that I have been wanting to play since it was announced.
Surprisingly, we got what was probably the biggest reveal of the show: the announcement of the original God of War trilogy, released on PS2 and PS3, is getting remakes on the PS5 (hopefully). Set long before the Norse games, the Greek games showcase Kratos, the new God of War, and his unyielding wrath against the Gods of Olympus and the myths that surround them. Plus, as a bonus, we’re getting the return of TC Carson as Kratos himself. There’s no release date for the game, but I do hope that these games will be worth the wait.
Last of the show, we have the surprise announcement of a God of War prequel game, titled God of War: Sons of Sparda. Set years before the Greek saga, this 2D platformer game showcases a younger Kratos as he trains as a Spartan while dealing with myths and monsters that surround the world around him. The biggest surprise of this is that you can play this game on PS5 right now!
Wrapping all of these announcements together, we can see that PlayStation has given its player base some of the best reveals in quite some time. Everyone in nearly every genre of gaming has gotten some new stuff, and it, personally, was the best State of Play ever received. It makes you think what else they can do to top this.
